Who We Support

Sutton House Academy supports children and young people aged 5–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who require a specialist educational environment in order to succeed.

Our pupils may have experienced difficulties accessing learning within a mainstream setting due to social, emotional or behavioural challenges. Many require additional support to develop emotional regulation, positive relationships, resilience and confidence in learning.

We support pupils who may:

  • Have identified SEMH needs.
  • Require a therapeutic and trauma-informed approach to education.
  • Be at risk of exclusion or have experienced permanent exclusion.
  • Need a personalised curriculum and tailored interventions.
  • Benefit from smaller class sizes and specialist support.
  • Require support to improve attendance, engagement and readiness for learning.
  • Need assistance in developing social skills, emotional wellbeing and self-confidence.
  • Be working towards a successful reintegration into mainstream education or preparation for their next stage of learning.

Every pupil is unique, and we recognise that successful outcomes are achieved through understanding individual needs. We work closely with families, local authorities, schools and other professionals to ensure each young person receives the right support at the right time.

Our focus is always on potential rather than barriers. Through positive relationships, personalised learning and therapeutic support, we help pupils build the skills, confidence and aspirations needed to achieve their goals and create successful futures.
